A brief analysis of the filter media and working principle of precision filters
Precision filters, also known as security filters, are generally installed before pressure vessels to remove fine particles with turbidity exceeding 1 degree, meeting the water requirements of subsequent processes. Sometimes, they are installed at the end of the entire water treatment system to prevent fine particles from entering the finished water.
Precision filters are mostly made of stainless steel and contain filter cartridges. They are mainly used before reverse osmosis, ultrafiltration, and other membrane filtration equipment after multimedia pretreatment filtration. They are used to filter out fine substances. After multimedia filtration, the filtration precision of the water quality is ensured, protecting membrane filtration elements from damage by large particles.
The precision filter cartridges have different accuracy levels, such as 0.5s, 1s, 5s, and 10s. Different filtration precisions are selected according to different applications to ensure the accuracy of the effluent and the safety of the membrane elements. Different materials such as PP cotton, nylon, and melt-blown are used as filter cartridges to remove tiny suspended solids, bacteria, and other impurities from the water, so that the raw water quality meets the requirements for reverse osmosis membrane feed water.
The working principle of a precision filter is to use the 5m pores of the PP filter cartridge to mechanically filter trace suspended particles, colloids, and microorganisms. The substances remaining in the water are intercepted or adsorbed on the surface and pores of the filter element.
As the effluent time increases, the operating resistance of the filter cartridge gradually increases due to the interception of pollutants. When the inlet and outlet pressure difference reaches 0.1 MPa, the filter cartridge should be replaced. The main advantages of a safety filter are high efficiency, low resistance, and easy replacement.
Precision filters use molded filter materials. Under pressure, the original liquid passes through the filter material, and the filter residue remains on the pipe wall. The filtrate flows out through the filter material, achieving the purpose of filtration. Structure: filter cloth, filter mesh, filter sheet, sintered filter tube, wire-wound filter element, melt-blown filter element, etc. Due to the different filter materials of precision filters, the filter pore sizes are also different. Precision filtration is a type of filtration between sand filtration and ultrafiltration, with a pore size generally in the range of 0.5~120 μm. Filter materials of the same type can be divided into different specifications according to their size.
For precise micron filtration of precision filters, the core is a filtering layer. The core is a heat-melt bonded structure with good integrity and downstream cleanliness, eliminating the need for a support core. The highly permeable adhesive coating is very smooth, preventing loose fibers from moving, which is crucial for high-purity applications.
