What are the effects of excessively high inlet air temperature in an adsorption dryer?

Generally, dryer manufacturers will specify in the instruction manual that the inlet air temperature of an adsorption dryer should not be too high, generally controlled below 40℃. If the inlet air temperature of the dryer is too high, it will cause the desiccant in the dryer to fail, affecting the dew point temperature (i.e., dryness) of the compressed air. Although adsorption dryer manufacturers emphasize that the dryer inlet air temperature should not be too high, many users do not pay enough attention, resulting in dryer inlet air temperatures as high as 100℃ or more.

  When the air compressor discharge temperature is high, it can reach 100℃. Today, Zhongshan Lingyu will talk about the impact of excessive inlet temperature on adsorption dryers;

  Generally, dryer manufacturers will specify in the instruction manual that the inlet temperature of the adsorption dryer should not be too high, and it should generally be controlled below 40℃. Once the inlet temperature of the dryer is too high, it will cause the desiccant of the dryer to fail, affecting the dew point temperature (i.e., dryness) of the compressed air. Although adsorption dryer manufacturers emphasize that the inlet temperature of the dryer should not be too high, many users still do not pay enough attention, resulting in the inlet temperature of the dryer reaching 100℃ or higher.

 Adsorption dryer

  The main impacts of excessive inlet temperature of the adsorption dryer are as follows:

  1. According to the adsorption characteristics of the desiccant of the adsorption dryer, the adsorption capacity is large at low temperatures and small at high temperatures. Therefore, an increase in temperature will reduce the adsorption capacity of the desiccant, causing the outlet air dew point to rise. Once the time is too long, the desiccant of the dryer will fail due to the inability to withstand high temperatures.

  2. The compressed air with high temperature in the adsorption dryer also contains more saturated water content. The compressed air entering the dryer is generally in a saturated state. The higher the temperature, the higher the water content, and the greater the load on the dryer, causing the outlet air dew point to rise.

  What causes the inlet temperature of the adsorption dryer to be too high? As we all know, the air in the atmosphere is compressed into high-temperature compressed air after being compressed by an air compressor (through work). Usually, people will install an air storage tank (pressure stabilizing function) after the air compressor. Some people install the dryer directly at the rear end of the air storage tank to save costs. This leads to an excessively high inlet temperature of the dryer.

  Solution: Install an air-cooled or water-cooled cooler in front of the adsorption dryer to lower the temperature of the compressed air, and then install a filter at the rear end of the cooler to filter out liquid water, oil, solid particles, and dust in the compressed air.
